GYÖRGY KURTÁG Kafka Fragments, Op. 24

Stark and Meltzer, both based in Berlin, come to Galway to perform Kurtág’s profound, minimalist masterpiece for soprano and solo violin, his Opus 24 Fragments. These are settings of extracts from Kafka’s diaries, letters and notebooks, in which Kurtág strips the expression down to the bare essentials, echoing Kafka’s own literary compression. The music will be performed alongside a specially-curated video installation by Isabel Robson and Susanne Vincenz.
