Welcome

...there is an energy behind these words, striving for the new, looking for freedom. It was the coming Beethoven bicentenary year that inspired this title and we will start celebrating it this autumn with the Emily Anderson Concert, where our friends the ConTempo Quartet will give a foretaste of the Midwinter Festival to come in January. This will be dedicated fully to Beethoven’s cycle of string quartets, the late ones truly groundbreaking.  

We also focus on the merit of two greats of the Eastern European tradition: Kafka and Kurtág, the latter breaking the boundaries of time as he enters into a musical dialogue with fragments of Kafka’s writing. 

Breaking boundaries can be an opportunity for opening up, connecting, letting in. That’s exactly what Crash Ensemble are doing as they present Ed Bennett’s ‘Everything is Connected’ with the participation of a number of community choirs in Galway and Gort.  And we continue with our MfG Out and About concerts in smaller settings as well as our MfG Encores in the county.  

We can proudly announce that another exciting edition of Cellissimo awaits in May 2027. We look forward to National Symphony Orchestra Ireland’s ‘Taste of Cellissimo’ concert in November.
