MfG Offshoots
MusicConnects Ensemble Skills
Our collaboration with MusicConnects and its Ensemble Skills Programme continues in November and again in February when the students will have the opportunity to work with viola player Danusha Waskiewicz and cellist Naomi Berrill, and the Hard Rain Soloist Ensemble. These workshops will focus on the art of working, breathing and communicating as a musical unit.

Participants of the the MusicConnects Ensemble Skills Programme working with percussionist Alex Petcu.
MfG Out and About
In line with our sustainability policy and our strategy to bring our wonderful artists to those who may find it difficult to join our regular concerts, we present MfG Out and About. These are smaller concerts tailored to particular circumstances but generally open to all.
The 2025/26 season will see three such events featuring Dragonfly, our Cellissimo Ambassador Margarita Guerrero Martinez, and saxophone player Robert Finegan.
We aim to be able to extend these in future seasons and if you would like to invite MfG to your setting, contact the office at [email protected]
Cellissimo and the Film Fleadh

We are proud to present the short documentary Cellissimo as part of Galway Film Fleadh 2026. Shot by young Berlin-based Galway filmmaker Maclaine Black it is a reflection on starting out on a career in classical music in today's world. This beautiful short will be preceded by a solo recital from Margarita Guerrero Martinez, our current Cellissimo Ambassador. Margarita, currently studying with Nathalie Clein, was part of the eight international masterclass students at Cellissimo 2024 who are at the centre of the film. In association with the Huston School of Film and Media at the University of Galway. More details to follow.

The Galway Bay is Calling project grew offshoots and the resulting piece Leave No Trace, written as part of the project by Naomi Berrill, was performed twice more by the Galway Jam Circles, the Leave No Trace Choir, the Leave No Trace String Ensemble, and ConTempo Quartet as part of the Galway Sustainability Festival and the Westside Arts Festival
