What was to be the glorious end of our European Capital of Culture programme, has fallen victim to the COVID-19 restrictions. However, we have redirected other elements of SoundScapes and can’t wait to bring you the Abendmusik Series, the community opera Paper Boat and the international cello festival, Cellissimo

Presented by Music for Galway & Galway 2020, in association with the RTÉ Concert Orchestra

RTÉ Concert Orchestra | Kenneth Montgomery conductor | Anna Devin soprano | Sharon Carty mezzo-soprano | Dean Power tenor | Allen Boxer baritone

With joy, the spark of the gods, Music for Galway ends its programme for Galway 2020 European Capital of Culture. Beethoven’s 9th Symphony, including the EU hymn Ode to Joy, will resound throughout the Galway Cathedral to celebrate 250 years since Beethoven’s birth, to celebrate this fantastic year for Galway and to celebrate its cultural connections with Europe. Choirs from all over Galway City and County will join the RTÉ Concert Orchestra and a star- studded cast of soloists in a performance conducted by Kenneth Montgomery.
