Marty Morrissey is one of Ireland’s most loved and admired broadcasters. A native of Quilty in West Clare on the Wild Atlantic Way, he has been in our sitting rooms and kitchens for quite a while. His first live TV match was in 1989 when Antrim hurlers shocked Offaly in that year’s All Ireland Semi Final. Since then, he has blossomed to be a leading Sports Commentator for RTÉ on Gaelic Games but he is no one trick pony as his career as he was part of the RTÉ team at three Olympiads in Athens, Beijing and London. Along the way, he commented famously on Women’s Beach Volleyball and Katie Taylor’s historic gold medal bout at the Excel Arena in London in 2012. But he’s more than just a Sport Commentator – he has presented on Ploughing, Bloom Live with Áine Lawlor and Marty’s Big Picture with Liz Gillis as well as reporting on various occasions for Nationwide. He teamed up with his great buddy Bernard O’Shea after participating together on ‘Dancing with the Stars’ for a hugely popular Marty and Bernard Series on the road doing all sorts of mad things!

On RTÉ Radio One, The Marty Morrissey Show on Bank Holiday Mondays from 9 to 11am is hugely popular with audiences, while The Marty Squad on Sunday evenings with Brenda Donoghue was very successful. Since 2013 he has been the station’s Gaelic Games Correspondent while next week he heads to Spain for the very first Marty Party in Spain which has been sold out within weeks of it being announced.

Marty is clearly one of RTÉ’s most talented broadcasters with a wide range of broadcasting skills that has endeared him to the people of Ireland which no doubt will lend to some great stories, fabulous music and great laughs, so enjoy Marty for a night of sport, music, stories and craic!
