Levi Andreassen

Praised for his “astounding virtuosity”, American double bassist Levi Andreassen is a sought-after soloist and chamber musician, driven by his desire to push the limits of his instrument. Striving to dismantle stereotypes rooted in its orchestral background, he presents innovative repertoire to reveal the instrument's unique expressive depth.

Recent highlights include solo performances at Wigmore Hall, Temple Music Foundation, BBC Radio 3 - In Tune, Bob Boas’ series Music at Mansfield, Petworth Festival, Kensington & Chelsea Music Society, a shared recital with Melvyn Tan at St John’s Waterloo, as well as recitals for Kirker Music Festival at Reid’s Hotel, Madeira, The William Walton Foundation at La Mortella, Ischia, and The Grand Hotel in Eastbourne. Levi also gave a concerto performance alongside the London Mozart Players following his 1st Prize at Haslemere International String Competition in 2025.

As a chamber musician, Levi regularly collaborates with renowned groups such as Ensemble 360, Fibonacci Quartet, Carducci Quartet, and Kleio Quartet. Beyond performance, he has recently been appointed as the Consultant Curator for the North Norfolk Music Festival.

Levi is generously supported by the Hattori Foundation and plays on an 1892-1893 Carlo Loveri double bass, on a long-term loan by an anonymous supporter.
