Ryan Garnham

A bass baritone from Ballynahinch, Northern Ireland, Ryan Garnham is a Masters graduate of the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland where he studied with Julian Tovey, now studying with Graeme Danby. A finalist in the 13th Glenarm Festival of Voice, he was invited into the 2024 Young Singers Collective with Le Foyer des Artistes. Throughout 2024, notable performances included the role of The Cobbler in Northern Ireland Opera’s production of ‘The Juniper Tree’ by Philip Glass as well as productions of Purcell’s ‘Dido and Aeneas’ and Blow’s ‘Venus and Adonis’ with Opera Collective Ireland and with Resurgam in Rheinsberg, Germany.

Ryan performed with Irish National Opera for the first time in Spring 2025 in their production of Wagner’s ‘The Flying Dutchman’ and Donizetti’s ‘L’Elisir d’Amore’ showing in Dublin, Cork and Wexford. In August 2025 he sang with the Irish Baroque Orchestra for Handel’s ‘Alexander’s Feast’ at the BBC Proms in the Royal Albert Hall and, in February 2026, he will sing the role of Fiorello in Lyric Opera Ireland’s production of The Barber of Seville in the Grand Opera House, Belfast. His oratorio repertoire includes Handel’s Messiah, Haydn’s Creation, Britten’s Noye’s Fludde, Faure’s Requiem, Charles Wood’s St Mark Passion and Stainer’s Crucifixion.

In October 2024, Ryan was a Northern Ireland delegate at the Worldwide Music Expo (WOMEX) after receiving a bursary from the Arts Council of Northern Ireland. His ongoing professional engagements include ANÚNA and M’ANAM with Michael McGlynn and the Ulster Consort under Matthew Owens.
