ARTIST PROFILE: JJ McNamara
Irish pianist JJ McNamara is an emerging concert artist who has performed extensively across Ireland and Europe as a soloist, concerto soloist, and chamber musician. A graduate of the Royal Academy of Music, where he completed a Master of Arts in Piano Performance under Rustem Hayroudinoff, he previously studied at the Royal Irish Academy of Music with Hugh Tinney and attended Chetham’s School of Music on full scholarship where he studied with Jonathan Middleton.
JJ has appeared as a concerto soloist with the Moldovan National Symphony Orchestra and has performed at leading venues and festivals including the National Concert Hall, Marble City Music Festival, and Clandeboye Festival. His repertoire centres on the Romantic piano tradition, with a particular affinity for the works of Franz Liszt, Frédéric Chopin, and Sergei Rachmaninoff.
He is the recipient of several awards including the Audrey Chisholm Award, the Tessier Award at RIAM, and prizes at international piano competitions in Ireland and Europe.
