Winner of the First Prize of the Paloma O’Shea Santander International Piano Competition in
2018, Dmytro Choni is emerging as one of the most promising pianists of his generation.
Dmytro has performed as a soloist with the symphonic orchestras of RTVE, Castilla y León and
the Real Filharmonía de Galicia in Spain; nationals of Ukraine and Liechtenstein; Seongnam in
Korea, Suzhou in China and Phoenix in the US, among others. Likewise, he has worked under
the baton of Miguel Ángel Gómez Martínez, Vitaliy Protasov, Matthew Kasper, Yaron Traub
and Nanse Gum.
Likewise, Choni has debuted at festivals such as the Kissinger Sommer in Germany; Verbier in
Switzerland; the Harmonie Starego Miasta festival in Poland; Santander and Granada in Spain
and Cervantino in Mexico. He has performed solo recitals in venues such as the National
Auditorium in Madrid, Salle Cortot in Paris, Colon Theater in Buenos Aires, Minato Mirai Hall in
Japan and Wigmore Hall in London.
His first album, published in 2020 by Naxos, features works by Debussy, Ginastera, Ligeti and
Prokofiev and has been awarded Supersonic distinction from Pizzicato magazine.
Dmytro Choni was born in Kiev in 1993. He received his first piano lesson from Galina
Zaslavets. He studied in Kiev with Nina Naiditch and Yuri Kot and is currently finishing his
studies at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Graz (Austria) with Milana
