For the Atoll is a 45-minute poem and song cycle with words written by Jane Robinson and music composed by Malachy Robinson. Performed by the Far Flung Trio, the words are spoken to music and sometimes sung. The project is concerned with the terrible war crimes perpetrated against Bikini Atoll and with their aftermath, compounded now by rising sea levels resulting from climate change. Premiered live online at the Killaloe Music Festival and in-person at the Red Line Book Festival in 2021, the performance of For the Atoll combines original music, words and song to be enjoyed equally by music and literary audiences.
